Not so long ago, Ed was living a comfortable life in northern Germany—house, career, routine. But something was missing. A growing desire for freedom, movement, and connection with nature began tugging at him. And then came a disc.
What started as a casual round of disc golf turned into something deeper. The rhythm of the game, the flow of each throw, the joy of being outdoors—it struck a chord. Within a year, Ed had sold his house, packed his belongings into a van, and set off across Europe in search of something more.
After a two-year journey through Europe, Ed arrived in Portugal and knew he’d found something special. The rugged hills and coastal forests near Aljezur whispered of potential—of fairways hidden between cork oaks, of throws sailing over the Atlantic breeze.
Along the way, he met two fellow Germans who shared his passion for disc golf and the dream of building something lasting. Together, they purchased a wild plot of land on the Algarve coast and got to work.
For a time, the team worked hard, clearing land, digging tees, and setting baskets. The dream was becoming real. Nine baskets were installed across rolling hills, with breathtaking views and challenging lines.
But building a course from scratch is never easy. Visions diverged. Priorities shifted. Eventually, the team split, and Ed was left standing—alone, but undeterred.
Today, Ed is the driving force behind the course. He maintains it by hand, fights through the red tape, and welcomes players from near and far. Locals have taken to calling him “o louco do frisbee”— the crazy frisbee guy. But slowly, perceptions are changing.
Visitors arrive. Curious neighbors stop by. Community is forming—one throw at a time.
The dream of a full disc golf course in southern Portugal is no longer just an idea. With 13 baskets already in the ground, Ed is building the rest—fairway by fairway, with heart, grit, and endless determination.
Whether you’re a seasoned player or a curious beginner, you’re invited to experience this unique course on the Algarve coast. Come throw a disc, walk the land, and be part of the story still unfolding.
